SFG Level 1 KB Cert
This is the premiere Kettlebell certification one can earn. It’s a three day certification where you must master technique, teaching and strength/endurance. SFG = Strong First Girya.
You must exhibit perfect technique with the below skill movements with a snatch test sized kettlebell. For me, that’s 20Kg.
Skills
Your skills will be tested on these basic movements.
- Swing (10 repetitions each side)
- Double Clean (5 repetitions)
- Press (5 repetitions each side)
- Double Front Squat (5 repetitions)
- Snatch (5 repetitions each side)
- Get up (1 repetition each side)
Snatch Test
Candidates will complete 100 snatches in 5 minutes with a snatch test sized bell – 20Kg. Perfect technique. This will be the hardest part of the certification. On the last day, you’ll go through your skills test then everyone gets tested on the Snatch Test. It’s a real killer of a test and roughly 30% of students fail to get the cert, mainly due to this test.
Pan Mass Challenge 2022
Update: 5/16/2022
Looking forward to PMC 2022, now scheduled for August 6-7. If you’d like to donate, please visit my profile page – pmc.org/jr0479.

I started training for the Pan Mass Challenge on 2/28/2021. The event is the first weekend in August – 2 days, 200 miles on my bike from Stockbridge, MA to Provincetown, MA on the cape. I’m considering increasing it to 3 days and 300 miles by starting at the New York border.
The ride is to raise money for Cancer. Please help the cause for cancer and support my ride! My goal is to raise $8,000 this year and this will be my third ride. First two were fantastic and I’m expecting even more this year.
Mount Washington Hill Climb
Update: 1/2/2022
Decided against the ride, I was too focused on the PMC. Save this for another year.

A bicycle ride up Mount Washington in New Hampshire, one of the toughest climbs in the United States. I love biking, especially hills!
The main competitive ride is August 21, 2021 but that is already full. I’m doing the Early Bird ride, which is unsupported and is a practice ride on 7/18/2021. Both follow the same road up to the top, including the gravel stretch and the 22 degree grade near the finish line.
If you want to read more about it go here. 7.6 miles, average grade of 12% and the last 50 yards is 22% grade. Should be an interesting ride.
This is a fundraising event for the Tin Mountain Conservation Center – a super organization! I’ll be volunteering for the main ride on August 21. Maybe I’ll see you there?
